Synopsis, Regular Meeting, Monday, June 20, 2016
Meeting called to order at 7:00 a.m.
Invocation: Clerk Penny Shults. All rose for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Approved the payment of bills in the amount of $1,178,000.31, payrolls in the amount of $118,964.38, for a total disbursement of funds in the amount of $1,296,964.69.
Approved Minutes, Regular Meeting, Monday, June 6, 2016.
Adopted Amendment 1, including Schedule A, of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office 2016 Law Enforcement Services Agreement, effective May 21, 2016.
Accepted the resignation of Christine Modovsky from the Environmental Resources Committee, with regret.
Granted permission to sell concessions to R.L. Knight Photography at the LOYBL Tournament.
Authorized hiring Kristine Gordon as part-time temporary Building Clerk Assistant, $14.67 per hour, 29 hours per week, no benefits, effective June 27, 2016, subject to completion of all pre-employment testing.
Authorized hiring Karen Brennan as part-time temporary Elections Assistant, $14.67 per hour, up to 20 hours per week, June through November, no benefits, effective June 22, 2016, subject to completion of all pre-employment testing.
Approved the request for a Alcoholic Beverages Special Service Permit for the American Legion’s Dragonfest scholarship fundraiser (pending State approval) on July 8 & 9, 2016 at the Wildwood Amphitheater, and waived the $300 application fee.
Authorized the waiver of all Building Department fees (excluding the license registration fees) for Habitat for Humanity’s Hill Road project.
Authorized seeking quotes for the installation of a control panel and electrical upgrades to the Silverbell Road lift station.
Authorized the purchase of a new control panel for the Silverbell Road lift station, at a cost not to exceed $45,091.00.
Approved the request for an Outdoor Assembly License from the Daisy Project to hold a vendor fair fundraiser at Crates Coffee on June 23, 2016, and waived the $100.00 application fee.
Approved the request of Lake Orion Fireworks Association to utilize the Civic Center parking lot to provide shuttle service for their Big Band Night cruise fundraiser on June 26, 2016.
Authorized the promotion of firefighters Steve Martin and Jonathan Jones to full-time status, effective July 1, 2016; further, authorized the necessary budget adjustments.
Authorized the Supervisor to prepare a Resolution in opposition to the proposed Regional Transit Authority for future Board consideration.
Scheduled a special joint intergovernmental meeting with the Village of Lake Orion’s Council and the Orion Township Board of Trustees at 7:00 p.m. on August 31, 2016, at the Orion Center.
Approved allocating 10% (up to $56,000.00) to the Central Drive reconstruction tri-party project, contingent upon a successful Special Assessment District to be set up by residents to cover the remaining cost of the project, and authorized notifying the Road Commission for Oakland County to bank the remaining balance for a future project.
Accepted the resignation of Randy McClure, Building Official, with regret.
Received and filed the Treasurer’s Community Programs Cash Handling report.
Received and filed the Treasurer’s Cash Activity and Investment report.
Received and filed the Village water distribution system update.
Received and filed the Strategic Communication Solutions update.
