Brandon Twp.- Help when help is needed.
This is the motto of Jim and Sara Alvarado, who provide in-home care for the elderly as owners of Caring Friends, Inc.
‘We’re not a business, we’re friends,? explained Sara Alvarado recently. ‘I’ve been working with seniors for years. I feel like I was led to this, because I really care for seniors.?
Caring Friends, Inc., begun about a year-and-a-half ago, provides a variety of services, including meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry and ironing, walking assistance, and bathing and dressing of clients. The Alvarados and their staff will run errands, including to doctor appointments and grocery shopping and also will read to clients, play card and board games with them, and are there to listen to and share stories. They are available to provide around-the-clock care and are bonded and insured.
‘We’re their friend, and we offer a break to regular caregivers or vacation time to a family,? she said. ‘Some of the elderly we care for just can’t be alone anymore.?
Caring Friends, Inc. recently expanded to offer services for the grieving family and will assist families when a loved one passes, watching the family home during funeral services, and picking up and setting up food for funeral luncheons, etc.
‘We are there for the family when they are in distress,? Alvarado said. ‘We will make sure everything is taken care of and set up tables, food, and make coffee. They can have peace of mind and don’t have to worry about what to do when they get back from the funeral, we’ll take care of it for you.?
