The downtown streets are expected to be cleared in time for the annual Lake Orion Lions Club Jubilee to be held the first week in July.
The Lions Club application to the Lake Orion Village Council indicates a schedule of Thursday, July 3 through Saturday, July 5. Wednesday, July 2 and Sunday, July 6 will serve as set up and clean up dates, respectively.
The dates are all subject to approval by the council, which will receive public comment during their June 9 regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.
Written comments will also be received at, or prior to, the meeting.
The application indicates that the Jubilee will run from noon to 1:30 a.m. each of the three days.
According to information received by the Lions Club, the village noted employees of Mid-American shows and their trailers will be housed on the grounds of the former Lake Orion schools bus garage, located behind Blanche Sims Elementary School.
Meanwhile, the fireworks over Lake Orion are slated for Friday, July 4 at dusk, with July 5 serving as a rain date.
Again this year, the show will be fired from barges on the lake — and Green’s Park will be open to spectators as a result.
It will mark the third year that the park will be open for fireworks spectators, but only 1,000 passes are available.
Passes cost $1 for village residents, with children 12 and under and seniors getting in for free; passes for Orion Township residents are $4, or $2; and passes for non-residents are $5, or $3.
The park closes at 8 p.m., but will be reopened at 8:30 p.m. for spectators.
Passes will be available at village hall until July 3, or when 1,000 are issued.
Revenue generated from pass sales will be split between the village and the Lake Orion Fireworks Association.
