Rain interrupted what was looking like a successful weekend for the Brandon softball team.
The Blackhawks went 2-1 in the first three games they played at the North Star Tournament May 1-2 at Liberty Park in Sterling Heights.
However, the rainy weekend weather forced the cancellation of the rest of the tournament, leaving the Blackhawks to settle for a winning record at the tourney. Brandon is currently 9-8 overall.
Ironically, all three games in the tournament were decided by 4-0 scores.
The Blackhawks started the tourney on a good note with a win against Utica. Jill Perry dominated on the mound for Brandon, no-hitting the Chieftains. Katie Flood and Brooke Schaefer helped Perry’s cause with two hits apiece.
Brandon continued their momentum with a win against Bloomfield Hills Lahser. Perry scattered three hits in the game as the Blackhawks scored a run each in the second and fourth innings, and added two runs in the sixth for good measure.
Birmingham Groves finally broke through to defeat the Blackhawks in the third game of the tourney. The Blackhawks managed only three hits in the game, with Flood accounting for two of those three.
