Park filled with fun for kids

Smiles warmed up the day at Clintonwood Park during Kids Day in the Park, May 11.
Hosted by Independence Township Parks and Recreation, the event was dedicated to Ryan Kennedy, a Clarkston resident who passed away last May just two days after his 10th birthday.
Friends of Ryan Kennedy were on site to continue their mission to raise money for a $300,000 memorial playground at Clintonwood Park.
Bounce houses, rock climbing, mechanical bull rides, rides, games and much more were at the park for kids to enjoy. Local businesses contributed to the event by offering a variety of hands on activities, events and competitions. Kids enjoyed everything from a petting zoo to kite building.
‘I blew bubbles and fed animals, said Hawk Chamberlain. ‘It was all amazing, but my favorite part was hanging out with my family.?
Aaliyah Grach said she came to the event to show her support for the Kennedy memorial. ‘I helped raise money for him and his family,? she said.
The event was sponsored by Genisys Credit Union, Belleza Salon & Boutique, Lil People’s Place, Work It Personal Training and Clarkston Area Mother’s Club.
