Paint Creek dam repairs underway today

Work crews are on M-24 at the Paint Creek dam installing a rock  barrier and cofferdam. The work is expected to last throughout the weekend.

Traffic in both directions is slow-going, and two southbound lanes are closed. Motorists should expect delays when traveling on the stretch of M-24 from approximately Atwater Street north to Indianwood, near Kroger.

Work crews and MDOT engineers are creating a rock wall at the Paint Creek dam to slow the slow of water going over the dam. They will install a cofferdam later today to stop the water so that crews can perform a complete structural analysis of the dam and bridge.
