Packing up and leaving town

Hollywood is coming to Lake Orion. No, not starlets, directors and movie sets, but rather fresh produce, quality meat and competitive prices.
Hollywood Market, a family owned and operated business, will soon inhabit the Farmer Jack building, located on Lapeer Road, just south of Clarkston Road, when Farmer Jack closes.
According to Hollywood President Bill Welch, they are looking to conceivably open the location by July 10, only a few days after taking occupancy of the store.
‘We’re not going to do anything dramatic with renovating,? he said. ‘We’ll make sure the store is as clean as a whistle, stock the shelves and open.?
Welch added that remodeling will be in the store’s future, but this will mainly be done outside of business hours, mostly at night.
‘I hate to have a store go dark to remodel,? Welch said, noting that it is Hollywood’s practice to stay open during remodeling.
Along with the Lake Orion location, Hollywood will also be opening stores in Madison Heights and Rochester Hills in vacated Farmer Jack locations. These three new stores will join Hollywood Market locations in Royal Oak, Troy, Bloomfield and Utica.
Welch said that Hollywood Market will be interviewing Farmer Jack employees for employment at the new stores.
‘We will be using many of the Farmer Jack employees,? he added, saying that it will be a good fit for the employees as Hollywood is unionized, which will allow the workers to carry over their benefits.
The family has been looking to expand the business for sometime and Welch felt the Lake Orion location is a great opportunity for Hollywood Market.
‘We felt that there is room for us (in Lake Orion),? he added. ‘It’s a good location and it’s a great community.?

Kroger has also purchased 20 Farmer Jack locations in various communities, as part of Farmer Jack locations closing around the state.
