n Fire department ditto:
Although council member, Harold Batten thought $7,600 was too much to pay for a copy machine, the village council approved the purchase for the Brandon Fire Department.
‘The fire department has the money in their budget for it,? said President Pro-Tem Kay Green.
The motion was passed despite Batten’s ‘No? vote.
n Turn lane plans
Village Manager, Paul Zelenak said that the Michigan Department Of Transportation is looking at adding a center turn lane from Granger Road to Mill Street.
‘They are just setting up their project list for 2004,? said Zelenak ‘and making inquires from the village.?
n Watch the signs
Village Council President Sue Bess said people need to be reminded to mind their signs.
Signs were a topic of discussion at the village council meeting because ’tis the season for ‘garage sale? and ‘for rent? signs, and people are forgetting to take them down.
Signs advertising ‘for rent? or ‘for sale? should be placed only on the owner’s property.
Zelenak said he has to remove signs from the street or lamp posts Mondays, after weekend sale events.
While he hasn’t been too hard on those who illegally post signs on village property, he does have an issue with oversized signs such as campaign signs.
‘I don’t want to upset little kids with lemonade signs so I don’t take them down, but people need to be aware of the ordinances,? he said.
Zelenak suggested that the council may be looking to update ordinance to include display time limitations.
