Oakland University is proud to announce the MaTilDa Award recipients from Lake Orion.
Jordan Brett won Outstanding Student in Piano Performance. Brett is a junior business major who is also pursuing a minor in music. He performs frequently at his local church, the Gingellville Community Church has has participated in the Oakland University Concerto Competition. He’s also competed at the Michigan Association of Christian Schools Piano Competition.
Katherine Fox was awarded Outstanding Student in Music Education. Fox graduated magna cum laude last December from the honors college, with a degree in instrumental/general music education and clarinet performance. She earned departmental honors, the College of Arts and Sciences? Meritorious Achievement Award, and this is her fourth MaTilDa, among numerous other awards received during her time at OU. Fox currently teaches elementary music as well as private lessons. She has played for numerous theatres and shows.
Michele Soroka won Distinguished Musicianship. Soroka is an active pianist and teacher of music theory and piano, and is currently finishing her Masters of Music. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in 2007. This is her third MaTilDa award.
