ORION TWP. —The Orion Township Public Library will begin its new parking lot project in late September and expects to finish it this spring, according to a press release from the library.
Library staff plans to ensure the library is accessible during construction, including the upcoming election, and “will aim for minimal library closures.”
According to the release, signage, pathways and curbside-pickup options will be available to patrons.
The goal of the project is to improve traffic and flow, plus add a drive-through book return and eventually a hold pick-up window.
The library will fund the parking lot with reserves set aside for the project. This means money will not be taken from other services, and not require additional revenue to cover the project’s cost, according to the press release.
