Orion Township woman dies of suspected overdose

An Orion Township woman has died after a suspected overdose of illicit drugs, an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
Deputies went to a home on the 3700 block of Gainsborough Drive at 7:40 p.m. Feb. 20 after getting a 911 call that a woman was unconscious and not breathing, possibly due to an overdose, according to the report.
Upon arrival, deputies assessed the situation, began life-saving measures by administering Narcan and then performing CPR until Orion Township Fire Department EMTs arrived and continued treatment.
Deputies spoke with the caller, a 37-year-old Orion Township man, who said that he and his partner, a 36-year-old Orion Township woman, use illicit drugs. The man had last seen her alive 30 minutes prior, and had administered four doses of naloxone before deputies arrived, the report stated.
EMTs were unable to revive the victim.
Detectives and an investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and began their respective investigations. The medical examiner took custody of the deceased. An autopsy has been scheduled.
The Orion Township man had multiple warrants for his arrest and was taken into custody and lodged at the Oakland County Jail, the report stated. – J.N.
