The Oxford Middle School Cheer program keeps rolling along this year as they took home another first place trophy at the Grand Blanc Bobcat Classic.
‘This season has just been absolutely amazing and has exceeded my expectations,? said Cheer Coach Kelly Oles.
The girls faced competition from seven middle schools from the area, Swartz Creek, Zemmar, Kearsley, Linden, Perry Academy, Holly Academy and Goodrich.
The girls capped the 400 point total for the second time in the victory, totaling 400.62. They finished over 20 points ahead of second place Swartz Creek, who finished with 371.49 points.
‘The girls are still working really hard so we can take first next week,? said Oles.
Oles alone cannot take the credit for the girls success. She wanted to express her thanks to Katie Berghorn, the other full-time cheer coach, for all the help she has given the program.
‘She is the heart of the team. She stays so calm with the girls and truly cares about them,? Oles said. ‘The girls absolutely love her and she is such a positive coach.?
Up next for the girls is the FML League meet at Oxford High School on Feb. 12 starting at 6 p.m.
