Olson joins village staff

While the saying may be that Lake Orion is ‘Where Living is a Vacation,? for Mike Olson, it’s also a place that he is looking forward to working in.
Olson started last month as the new Department of Public Works (DPW) Superintendent in the Village of Lake Orion.
Coming from a position in the city of Hazel Park, Olson was part of a crew leader program and dealt with complaints and job assignments. He plans on bringing that experience into his supervisor position.
In his new job, Olson will oversee everything from Parks and Cemetery maintenance to water operations, and he is currently working on composing a list of fire hydrants repairs and upgrades. He said that he will be doing a little bit of everything and anything that needs to be done.
In his free time, Olson also coaches wrestling and enjoys fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle and spending time outdoors.
He said that he and his fiance, Lisa, are looking to relocate closer to this area.
‘I like the small-town feeling of knowing everybody,? Olson said of Lake Orion. ‘You can just go down the road and everyone will wave at you.?
