Some businesses in Oxford Township and Village were without water beginning Sunday night after a village water main that was shared with the township broke along the east side of M-24 just north of Complete Auto Repair.
The village DPW was notified that Complete Auto Repair, Burger King, Hubbard Spring Co. and the Red Carpet Keim buildings in the township, and Clean Cars and Trucks, Comerica Bank and Underwood & Associates P.C. buildings in the village didn’t have water.
DPW Superintendent Don Brantley said old age caused the break.
‘The section from the village limits south to Burger King, we believe, is from the 1930s,? he said.
On Monday, Brantley said his crew disconnected the old water main and capped-off the remaining ends. The village businesses were able to get water by 9:30 p.m. Monday.
He said the Oakland County Drain Commission will tie-in four new water mains to the township businesses no later than Thursday, weather permitting.
