The Boyne Highlands Ski Resort in Boyne City has become quite a familiar hangout for Karen Offer.
Offer, a senior at Oxford High School, will be making her third straight trip to the state finals, held at Boyne Highlands, as a result of her performance in the Southeast Michigan Ski League (SEMSL) regional meet Wednesday, Feb. 22 at Mt. Holly Ski Resort.
Offer finished eighth in the slalom and seventh in the giant slalom to qualify for the state meet, which will take place Monday, Feb. 27.
As a team, the Brandon-Oxford girls finished ninth overall out of 14 teams at the regional meet with a team score of 298.
In addition to Offer’s performance in the slalom, Miranda Christen placed 30th and Kelsey Rehaan finished 50th out of 84 skiers.
In the giant slalom, Christen finished 31st and Reehan 48th.
The Brandon-Oxford boys team finished 11th out of 15 teams in the regional meet, with a team score of 353.
In the slalom, Aaron Van Dis finished 34th out of 85 teams, while Casey Drayton took 42nd and Jason Hine 50th.
In the giant slalom, Drayton took 33rd place, while Hine was right behind at 34th and Van Dis placed 45th.
