OAC presents ‘Images Cast in Time?

Three unique artists will be presenting works at the Orion Art Center for a multi-dimensional show, ‘Images Cast in Time.? The show runs June 13 through July 12.
According to Orion Art Center Director Reggie Harrison, the combination of Lisa Belanger Schillace, Tracy Nora and Larry Nelson will make for a show not to be missed. It will feature an interesting mixture of bronze, clocks and photography.
Nelson, of Lake Orion and formerly of Sedona, Ariz., has taken his love for woodworking and timepieces and created a unique art form.
‘Larry is an artist with an engineering background who can take an ordinary piece of wood and make it into an extraordinary, one of a kind wall clock,? Harrison said.
The show will feature several limited edition pieces, as well as one of a kind wall and stand alone clocks
Nara, a sculptor from Oxford, works in bronze and has taken top honors in several art competitions. She earned her BFA from the University of Michigan and worked for many years in the sculpture studio of Alex Buchan.
She most recently took first place at the Orion Art Center’s 2008 All Media Show.
Nara draws inspiration from her family and many of her pieces use her husband and sons as models, although she works on a much smaller scale. Her imagination comes through in her work, which ranges from smooth and simple to detailed and intricate.
Schillace, of Ferndale, earned her Bachelors in Fine Art at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Her thesis work centered around the idea of Clich? Verre, a term which means ‘glass picture.? The Clich? Verre process was used in the early 19th century by French Painters who would paint or draw on glass and project and print the image photographically.
Schillace has modified the process using organic materials like leaves and salt to create glass plate negatives followed by using traditional darkroom equipment.
The Orion Art Center is located in downtown Lake Orion at 115 S. Anderson St.
