Michelle Nuccio, a senior at Brandon High School, will soon leave the Blackhawks? blue and white soccer uniform for Valparaiso’s gold and brown school colors. Nuccio is a 5?4? defender on the Brandon girls soccer team and will soon be on the field at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind.
Nuccio was one of six girls to commit to play at Valparaiso this year.
Nuccio has been first team league for three years, All-District for two years, and last year was voted most valuable player. She has been playing soccer since she was 8-years-old, and this season will be her fourth and last season on the varsity soccer team at Brandon High School. She was also a First All-Conference pick for Brandon High School.
Nuccio was offered an academic and athletic scholarship which will give her $8,000-$10,000 a year. When Nuccio goes to Valparaiso, which enrolls about 4,000 students, she plans to study to become a physician’s assistant.
‘I chose Valpo because I felt like I fit there,? says Nuccio. ‘I like the atmosphere and their academic reputation.?
Nuccio also plays basketball for the Brandon Blackhawks, and she has played soccer with the Lobos and Vardar.
