On April 4, North Sashabaw Elementary School held a special ceremony in honor of being named a ‘Blue Ribbon? school.
The ceremony began with those in attendance reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, then listening as third grader Corey Daly sang the National Anthem. Principal Debra Latozas thanked everyone for attending and expressed her appreciation toward the many supporters of North Sashabaw Elementary.
‘I am so proud of everyone,? said Latozas. ‘This is the best place to be.?
Members of the Clarkston Schools Board of Education were introduced and a special video presentation was prepared by instructional aide and student council advisor Wendy Roehl. The video showcased the numerous reasons why North Sashabaw Elementary School is a ‘Blue Ribbon? school.
Superintendent Dr. Al Roberts was unable to attend the ceremony, however he did send a message.
‘I am so disappointed that I could not be with you today,? Clarkston Schools Board of Education President Karen Foyteck read on behalf of Roberts. ‘As the superintendent of schools I could not be more proud of you.?
‘As a former Blue Ribbon school principal, I understand the work that was done by the committee to gain such recognition.?
A special gourmet lunch was available following the ceremony, which was prepared by Myron, Marsha and Mary Grosz. Myron is the owner of the Burger King on Dixie Highway in Clarkston.
‘I am not doing this for PR,? said Myron. ‘I believe you have to give back to the community.?
About 150 guests attended the lunch, and many congratulations were given to administrators, staff, students and friends.
