Pack up the lawn chairs and bring the family to the Civic Center Park on Tuesday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m.
It’s time for the opening of the Concert in the Park series with the North Oakland Concert Band, conducted by Annette Kline, providing the musical entertainment.
This free concert will have a south of the border flavor, with a little jazz on the side. Some of the selections to be performed by the group include ‘La Bamba de Vera Cruz,? ‘Aztec Dance? from ‘La Fiesta Mexicana,? and ‘Fandango.?
Just to shake it up a little, they will include a medley of Ray Charles tunes and a sampling of music from ‘South Pacific.?
The Civic Center Park is located on the east side of Joslyn Road between Waldon and Scripps Roads, across the road from Canterbury Village.
The NOCB performs several concerts every season, each concert featuring a wide variety of music, classical to pops. The group is financially self-supporting, relying primarily on member dues and donations from its patrons to cover the costs associated with running the organization.
