Hello Oxford, I’m the new guy. Well, new to Oxford that is.
If anyone has read the Leader’s sister publiclations the Lake Orion Review or the Clarkston News, you may have seen my byline or recognize my picture in this column.
So what’s my history you ask? I graduated from Lapeer East High School in 2003, and then went on to Rochester College (in Rochester Hills) where I graduated with a BA in English and minor in Communications.
From there I was given the chance to become a staff writer for the CNews, where I spent five years expanding my skills as a writer and a journalist.
I covered both Independence Township and the City of the Village of Clarkston governments, as well as writing plenty of ‘warm feeling? features. Then I transfered over to the Review in April.
However, Upper management i.e. the bosses that be at Sherman Publications felt it was a good idea to ‘shake things up? again and maneuver people around, so I will be replacing former reporter Lance Farrell and will be covering both Oxford Schools and Addison Township, as well as various feature stories.Meanwhile, Lance will be taking my spot in Orion and covering the Orion township board and schools.
Besides writing, I am newly married to my lovely and beautiful wife Noell. We recently celebrated our one-year anniversary. We live in Lapeer where we share a house with our energetic ‘little tiger? Mozart or ‘Mo? for short. In three months we will be adding another addition to our family, as my wife wife will be giving birth to our first born son. His name will be Konner Isaiah Keiser (‘Lil KIK?). Since he is being born in December my wife and I have started calling him our ‘Little Drummer Boy,? I am sure you will hear plenty about him in the future as things continue to progress, but until then, all I can say is I am super excited to become a dad.
I am also an avid sports fan. I love all the Detroit teams, even though the Pistons could use some help. Beside Detroit teams I am a big fan of University of Michigan Football.
Speaking of sports I am still trying to get used to Oxford Sports being part of the Oakland Activites Association (OAA). Being a former Lapeer East wrestler and knowing what a rival Oxford was in the Flint Metro League, it’s going to take some time.
As for journalism itself, I believe the best journalism is that which is true, balanced, and fair. As I told the faithful readers of the CNews and the LO Review ‘I may not get it 100 percent correct every time, but I can promise you I will give it my best every time.?
I look forward to serving the Oxford community, where I will be covering Oxford Community Schools and fine folks of Addison Township.
