Goodrich- Superintendent Kimberly Hart is keeping her job for at least one more year.
The Goodrich Area Schools Board of Education unaniomously approved a new contract for Hart during their March 26 meeting.
It’s a renewal that comes in the midst of mounting tensions in the community concerning negotiations between the district’s administration and it’s teacher’s union, with Hart and the school board facing increasing critisisim from the community at board meetings.
Difficulties were hightened with the short notice given for a March 19 meeting, scheduled for the purpose of conducting Hart’s performance evaluation in closed session. Several in attendence at the meeting expressed frustration about the meeting being posted on the Sunday before it was to take place, while others said they felt the board diliberately delayed communication about the meeting.
Because the review was done in closed session, details of the evaluation are not readily available.
A portion of those in attendence left the meeting shortly after the new contract was approved, prior to the close of the meeting.
Though details of the contract were not made immediatly available, it was announced at the meeting Hart’s new contract is for only one year and not self-renewing, as opposed to the two year contract that was automatically renewed unless there was board intervention Hart had previously been granted.
