Many Clarkston area residents may remember Giacomo’s. Now, a new restaurant stands in its place ? Lorenzo’s Italian Cuisine.
Lorenzo’s opened their doors on April 20, and owner Lorenzo Myftiu is thrilled about the vast amount of support.
‘I love Clarkston,? said Myftiu. ‘Everyone in the area is so nice and supportive.
‘Fred Ritter was the first business owner to come up, shake hands and say welcome to the community,? said Myftiu.
Growing up in Albania, Myftiu became familiar with the restaurant industry. He ran, and still remains part owner, an Italian restaurant there ? Eden Italian Restaurant. Also, Myftiu finished school at the Scuola Alberghiera, a culinary/hospitality center.
Now, Myftiu brings his culinary history to the Clarkston area and introduces Lorenzo’s. Admitting that opening a business is quite a task, Myftiu expresses that he could not run the business on his own.
‘I give chef Mike Miller a lot of credit,? said Myftiu. ‘He has years of experience and knows his way around the kitchen.?
Miller assisted with the changes for the new establishment, including the menu.
‘I worked with Lorenzo before and he is a great guy,? said Miller. ‘He let me have control of the menu and I made the changes.?
Lorenzo’s did a complete menu make-over. A few of the gourmet recipes include: calamari, Italian sausage and peppers, antipasto salad, homemade soups, lasagna, fettuccini alfredo, gnocchi palomino and much more.
Part of the Clarkston area for only a short time, Myftiu is a member of the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce. Also, he donated to several local events including Lighthouse, Rotary and Taste of Clarkston.
‘I have made so many friends in the area,? said Myftiu. ‘The people here are wonderful.?
Lorenzo’s is hopeful that an outdoor seating area will soon be available for customers, and also plans on final renovations to be complete in the near future.
