Goodrich-Incumbents Linda Jackson and Tim Zirnhelt, along with challenger Jeremy Spear, will vie for two four-year school board seats, with terms starting June 30. Incumbent David Cramer will be the only candidate for a one-year partial term. The election will be May 3.
Spear has been the pastor of Lakeview Community Church, 10023 S. State Road, since 2007. He has served as a youth pastor for more than 18 years. He has been a youth pastor at churches in Florida, Georgia and Oklahoma. Recently, he was a youth pastor at Colwood Church in Caro for eight years. He has attended Kansas City College Bible School and Hope Sound Bible School in West Palm Beach, Fla.
‘I have a solid background as a student advocate,? said Spear. ‘In addition, I have students in the Goodrich School District, so as a parent and also a taxpayer, I’ll strive for fiscal responsibility. My day job is a pastor, but I’ll serve as a community member rather than a member of the clergy.?
Spear also has a background in technology and hopes to add input with the technology changes in the district.
Spear is married to Ronda and they have three children, Jordan, 18, Alexis, 16, and Taylor, 14.
David Cramer was appointed in August 2010 to replace James Bertrand who resigned in July 2010.
