After 10 years in the automotive industry and a year as a business entrepreneur, Jamie Arms of Independence Township is now an author.
His topic: two talking ferrets and their quest to reach a local fair.
‘I had two ferrets, Tommy and Harley,? said Arms, 36. ‘Ferrets are cool to watch, so I though, why not put them into an adventure story??
The colorfully illustrated book ‘The Adventures of Tommy & Harley ‘Go to the Amusement Park,?? published by Xlibris, is on sale now.
‘They go to the amusement park and get caught up in the craziness,? Arms said.
He grew up in Utica and moved to Independence Township in 2005. He and his wife, Erika, have three children Petra, Garett, and Brooke.
Jamie Arms started his business, Arms Length Lawn Care, in 2009, after a decade in the automotive industry.
‘I decided to make a change ? I decided I wanted to be my own boss,? he said.
Writing was something he picked up during the off season, he said.
‘I didn’t know how to write a book ? I just put it together and my wife proofread it,? he said. ‘Hopefully things turn out cool. The kids think it’s pretty neat ? they like the pictures a lot.?
The author hopes the story is the first of many for the ferrets.
‘There are a couple things I’m thinking about,? he said.
