National honors for students? art

Michigan Parent Teacher Association honored winners of its annual Reflections competition, May 4 ? Clarkston students earned 15 state awards in the creative arts competition.
Submissions from two state winners, Alison Ferer and Johanna Jeung, both Clarkston Junior High students, were entered in the national-level PTA Reflections contest. Bailey Lake student Phoebe Savoie was one of three Michigan students to win a national award.
Reflections is an arts education program developed in 1969 to encourage students to explore their talents and express themselves. Each year, millions of students nationwide in grades K-12 reflect on a specific theme and create original artwork in dance, choreographer, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. This year’s theme was ‘The Magic of a Moment.?
‘We received so many exceptional entries,? said CJHS Reflections coordinator, Mary Rogowski, ‘and we’re so proud of all the students who took part.?
Next year’s Reflections theme is ‘Believe, Dream, Inspire.?
