The Morgan sisters ? junior Jessica and freshman Tori ? proved to be too much for visiting Atherton to handle April 8.
The Martians swept a twin bill against the Wolverines, winning the opener 10-0 and the nightcap 11-2. Goodrich improved its mark to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Genesee Area Conference Red Division heading into the Easter break.
Jessica Morgan started the first game and pitched the first three innings before being relieved by younger sister Tori for the final two innings, as the game was called due to the mercy rule.
Kelsey Krych stole two bases and scored three times to lead the Martian offense.
In the nightcap, it was Tori Morgan’s turn to start, and she pitched the first two innings before Jessica Morgan relieved her for the last five innings of the game.
Julie Owen sparked the Goodrich attack in the second game with three hits, two RBI and three stolen bases.
The Martians return to action April 19 when they travel to New Lothrop. Goodrich coach Rick Bescoe said the Martians may be at a disadvantage because unlike the Martians, the Hornets will be in action the week of April 12, playing seven games before taking on the Martians.
‘That should be rather challenging for us,? Bescoe said.
