Two new Clarkston collectibles have been released.
As part of the Clarkston High School Parent Teacher Student Association’s only fundraiser, co-chair Kathie Valeri Carroll announced the Garter Building and Morgan’s Service Station are the latest pieces to the collection featuring wooden painted replicas of historical Clarkston buildings.
A closer look shows:
‘The Garter Building, at 27 S. Main St., was built by Henry Garter in 1910/11 of locally produced concrete block for use as a hardware store. It remained a hardware store until the 1960s. It is currently Max Broock.
‘Morgan’s Service, at 28 S. Main St., was built in 1927/28 as Seeterlin Brothers Service Station. Dick Morgan has operated the business since 1931, purchasing it in 1935.
Other Cat’s Meow collectibles include the First Baptist Church at 54 S. Main St., now the Clarkston Union; The Clarkston House at 20 and 22 S. Main St.; the hitching post on Main Street; the old Clarkston Post Office, the Wilford House; the Clarkston Country Store; the Clark House; the Clarkston News Building; Rudy’s Market; the Welcome to Clarkston sign; and the Independence Township clock.
The Independence Township Hall, the Lambert House and Clarkston State Bank are currently out of stock.
Prices range from $10 to $18. Each piece includes a historical description of the landmark on its reverse.
The Cat’s Meow, an Ohio company, comes from the hand of an artist named Faline. A trademark of Faline’s work is to place a tiny black cat somewhere on the piece and one can be found each of these artist-signed collectibles.
The Cat’s Meow collection is available at the Clarkston Country Store and Main Street Antiques at 21 N. Main St., or by ordering through Kathie Valeri Carroll at (248) 620-8906.
