“There’s a reason it feels like home.”
That’s the motto at the Modetz Funeral Homes, where the service is warm and personal, provided by the Modetz family for over 20 years.
John and Mary Modetz opened the Potere-Modetz Funeral Home in downtown Rochester in 1986, and the Riverside Chapel Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home in Waterford in 1989, with partner Tim Simpson.
The couple brought their quality service to the Lake Orion area with the opening of the Modetz Funeral Home and Cremation Service, at 100 East Silverbell Road, in June of 2003.
The 14,000 square foot facility was designed to feel like a real home. Included is a large lounge where families can gather to have refreshments.
A large mural, painted by Rochester artist Gerry Post; honoring veterans, police, fire, hospital and community volunteers; can be found inside the funeral home.
“We have tried to keep the warmth of the building without making it feel too commercial,” says John Modetz. “When families choose to be served by our funeral homes, they are taken care of by family.
“Our funeral homes are more than just businesses,” he says. “Our staff truly believes in what they are doing.”
Evening phone calls are answered personally by John or Mary, and during the day, you can talk to any one of the other experienced staff members.
Modetz is prepared to handle any size funeral.
The Silverbell location includes a 2,000 square foot chapel that can be divided into two rooms, and a 3,000 square foot chapel that can be divided into three.
The funeral home has three sound systems to accommodate each chapel.
The Silverbell location includes an apartment, where one of the directors lives.
Modetz calls his funeral home affordable luxury, and says the services held can be as personal as one’s choosing.
Modetz stresses that his funeral homes are family-owned, and will always be.
Many funeral homes in Michigan are now owned by huge conglomerates, located in other states.
Modetz Funeral Homes offer prearranging of funerals, and accept prepaid contracts from other funeral homes.
Also offered is traditional and cremation services, medicaid funeral funding, barrier-free entrances and grief support groups.
