Mayberry, Misek excel for Martian netters in recent matches

Despite losing a pair of close matchups, the Goodrich boys tennis team has established a couple of anchors at the top of its lineup.
The Martians dropped a 5-3 contest against host Clio in an April 27 meet. Mark Mayberry, at #1 singles, and Nick Misek, at #2 singles, each won their respective match for the Martians.
Mayberry defeated Curtis Henderson 6-2, 6-1, while Misek defeated Ryan Kaljonick 6-3, 6-0.
Goodrich’s other win came at #4 doubles, while Dwayne Engleman and Austin Mortimor defeated Brandon Anderson and Matt Hemingway 6-3, 6-1.
The Martians also lost a 5-3 matchup to host Swartz Creek in an April 23 matchup.
Mayberry and Misek again stood out for the Martians, both earning wins in their respective matches. Mayberry defeated Chad Ortiz at #1 singles 6-4, 6-3, while Misek defeated Kyle Schaenzer at #2 singles 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
The Martians? other win came at #3 doubles, where Engleman and Mortimer defeated Josh Shaw and Kal Abousamra 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
Goodrich’s next meet is at 4 p.m. May 3 at Mt. Morris.
