Goodrich- If the ‘Martianaire? yearbook staff has their way, each student will be exposed three times.
When the 2008-09 yearbook goes to print this winter reflecting a host of memories, thoughts and expressions of the students’they will each appear in the publication three times.
Cheryl Dotterer, high school yearbook advisor and teacher says such efforts will hopefully help students stay connected with peers in the future.
‘I always go back and look at my yearbook from high school. It’s a great way to take a trip down memory lane, and see the changes that have occurred over the passing years.?
Yet, the annual book of the school year needs some support.
Throughout the years, the yearbook program at the high school has relied a great amount on the sale of advertisements to help fund it. With tough economic times, ad sales have sagged’prompting possible changes in book layout.
‘We have a goal of selling at least $10,000 in ads to help fund this year’s book,? said business manager Jarrett Smith.
‘So far we have sold $5,670, and I do believe that the economy is playing a great effect on the difficulty of selling ads.?
Dotterer emphasizes that yearbooks are read cover to cover five times a year by parents and students. ‘If quota for ad sells is not met, the cost for the students will also go up, we would have to cut pages, and we could lose an all-color book,? said Dotterer.
