When Cheryl and Kevin Maguire got married, they picked a date that would be easy to remember ? Nov. 11, or 11-11.
This year is extra memorable. They got married in 2000, so they celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary on 11-11, 2011.
“I didn’t want to wait until November, but it worked out, and he never forgot our anniversary,” Cheryl said. “I didn’t think 11 years into the future about us celebrating our 11th on Nov. 11, 2011.”
“I had that planned out,” Kevin said.
The Waterford Township couple raised a blended family of five children, Cheryl’s daughters Stephanie and Kristin, and Kevin’s children Ashley, Ryan, and Tyler.
“It was like the Brady Bunch ? we threw them all into one house,” Cheryl said. “We’ve had our ups and downs, but we’ve been blessed.”
They met when Cheryl, who owns Cher Marketing on Dixie Highway in Independence Township, worked on a promotional project for Kevin’s company, Maverick Building Systems in Walled Lake.
They dated for two years before getting married.
Now they’re planning a move to Lake Orion.
“The house is way too large for just the two of us, so we’re downsizing,” Kevin said.
