Man charged with felonious assault after alleged knife threat

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies in Addison Township responded to a call that a woman’s estranged husband had allegedly broke into her father’s home and threatened her with a knife.
According to the sheriff’s report, Mark Dowell, 25, of Addison, entered the home through a window.
Once inside, Dowell allegedly fought with a male friend of the woman who was able to force Dowell out of the home.
According to the sheriff’s report, Dowell re-entered the home, brandished a fixed-blade hunting knife and was threatening to harm his wife with it. The wife’s, friend was once again able to force Dowell out of the house, where he allegedly fled the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival. The report said deputies conducted an area check and went to the home of Dowell’s aunt, where Dowell was reportedly found hiding in a closet.
The deputies recovered Dowell’s pants at the aunt’s house with an empty knife sheath connected to the belt.
Dowell was taken into custody and transported to the Oakland County Jail.
Dowell has been arraigned and charged with felonious assault. He is currently being lodged in the jail in lieu of posting 10 percent of a $25,000 bond. He is expected to have his preliminary examination Oct. 16 at the 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills.
