‘Making the cut?

For three generations and more than a half century the Mooney family men have been cutting hair in Oakland County.
Last month the latest in the long line of family clippers illuminated the ol? barber pole at 125 N. Ortonville Road.
Ryan Mooney, 20, a 2007 Brandon High School graduate, joined his father Skip, 49, in the family trade after completing barber school in Lansing last year. Skip followed his father’s career and became a barber in 1981 following a layoff from Pontiac Motors Company.
‘We are now the local barber shop,? said Skip. ‘We do men’s and boy’s hair’no dying hair, no highlights. We’re not here to cut women’s hair’just guys. We also specialize in military cuts, flattops, fades, crew cuts, head shave and beard trims.?
Skip’s father, Joe, was a barber in the Pontiac and Waterford area for 20 years and retired in 1988.
