Take a good look at the bare, snow- and ice-free surface of M-15’it could be the last time motorists will see that asphalt this winter.
The Michigan Department of Transportation reported last week that due to reduction in overtime for state funded county road crews, more highways, including M-15, will be maintained at a lower level than in years past.
‘On M-15 during the night, chances are you’re not likely to see bare pavement if it’s snowing,? said Craig Bryson, public information officer for the Road Commission for Oakland County. ‘Basically, MDOT is saying that no overtime will be paid to plow snow on some roads’that includes M-15. Motorists will see a difference on roads other than freeways, which include I-69 and I-75.’Bryson said that he was informed by MDOT that county roads will receive one pass with the snow plow until the next morning.
‘If there are tire tracks in the snow, then the plows are done. The bottom line is, drivers need to drive appropriately on snowy roads this winter. The first good snowstorm and we will see a difference.?
