LOPD to get new car

The Lake Orion Village Council approved the purchase of a new vehicle for the Lake Orion Police Department last month.
The car, a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, comes a year after the department was due for a new vehicle, as Chief Jerry Narsh deferred the purchase a year.
All of the department’s current vehicles are Crown Victorias, but this will likely be the last such purchase, as Ford has announced intentions to stop production of the line, according to Narsh.
The chief said he looked into other vehicle options. However, any cheaper options in terms of cost and gas mileage were negated by the fact that equipment from the current vehicles would not translate.
The vehicle will be purchased from Jorgensen Ford at an expected cost of just over $21,000.
