To ensure rested legs, Clarkston’s boys and girls cross country teams did not run in any weekend tournaments this past week.
Both teams still had success, each defeating Rochester Adams and Troy Athens in tri-meets at Bloomer Park on Oct. 11.
On the girls side, Clarkston defeated Adams 25-30 and Troy Athens 23-36. Leading the way were Lindsay Smith (second place overall, 19:11) and Stephanie Morgan (fourth, 19:32). The girls team’s record is now 6-1 in dual meets.
Clarkston’s boys team was as unkind to their competition, beating Adams 25-30 and Athens 24-31.
Like the two team’s recent success in league competition, their schedules mirror one another down the stretch.
On Oct. 20, the league meet beckons both teams back to Bloomer Park in Rochester. The boys enter the meet at 5-2 and need a win to take the league title. The girls enter the league meet in slightly better standing at 6-1, and in reality as massive favorites to win the title.
After the league is wrapped up, Clarkston hosts both the boys and girls cross country regionals on Oct. 29 at Clintonwood Park.
