The Lake Orion High School Men’s Cross Country team competed at the Hanson’s Invitational on Saturday, scoring 144 points to take 4th place out of 34 teams in the competition.
“The weather was perfect with a temperature of 68 degrees. The course was flat and well-marked,” said head coach Andrew McDonald. “The varsity team did a great job of working together and continued to improve their times through hard work and effort.”
The Dragons were led by senior Horacio Lopez in 21st place in a personal record time of 16:50.4 minutes.
He was closely followed by sophomore Blake Peardon at 16:57.1 in 23rd place. Senior Eddie Cromwell was 27th place at 17:05, sophomore Raymond Lucero was 30th place in 17:13 and junior Sean Stein completed the scoring in 44th place in 17:27.
The Dragons will compete next in the Oakland County Championships on Saturday at Kensington Metropark in Milford.
Lake Orion will host the inaugural Lake Orion Stan Ford Cross Country Invitational at the high school on Oct. 14. Ford retired this year after 40 years as the cross country coach, 41 as track coach. Races begin at 4:15 p.m. with the junior varsity. Varsity boys run at 5:15 p.m. and the varsity girls run at 5:45 p.m. – J.N.
