Lake Orion High School’s girls varsity swim and dive team rounded out their final dual meet of the season last week in a close battle against Rochester Adams High School. Ultimately, the Dragons fell to the Highlanders 88.5 to 85.1.
Though the ladies lost, the Dragons were still able to have two top five swimmers in Paige Potter and Katherine Rhodes.
Rhodes had an outstanding performance in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 25.65 seconds, a new personal record. Rhodes also took first place in the 100-yard backstroke while Potter took first in the 100-yard freestyle.
Emma Timms led the scoring in diving earning 194.45 points.
“I am very happy with the progress our team had this season. They were competitive during dual meets and had our best Oakland County meet finish since 2015. There is good energy and support among the girls,” said head coach Haley Kornburger.
The ladies are 3-1-1 in the OAA White division heading into their OAA division meet against North Farmington, Stoney Creek, Bloomfield, Royal Oak and Troy High Schools on Nov. 3 and 4.
“We are trying to be top three in the division,” Kornburger said. “We are looking forward to a competitive meet with very solid teams along with racing at our home pool.”
In the league meet, the Dragons are also looking to snag a few best times and improve on a few qualifying times while the divers are hoping to make a run at regionals in order to get to the state meet.
