Local winning lottery ticket stolen

Atlas Twp. – A housekeeper has confessed to stealing a local family’s winning lottery ticket.
The scratched-off Mega Millions ticket worth $1,000 was taken from an Atlas Township home, where it was being held to cash in at Lansing, said Detective Sgt. Joe Parks, commander of the Genesee County Sheriff Atlas Township Precinct.
The family noticed the missing ticket Feb. 25, the day after the housekeeper had been in the home.
The suspect, a 25-year-old Flint woman, was caught on video surveillance cameras at Meijer of Burton while giving the ticket to a 28-year-old Flint man, who tried to cash the ticket.
This week, the woman confessed to taking the ticket, said Parks, who anticipates possible warrants being issued on both suspects.
