With the hustle and bustle of the Super Bowl bringing thousands of travelers to the area residents may expect local officers to worry about extra problems., Some local law enforcers, however, are not worried about any extra problems.
‘At this time, I don’t see much that will impact us. We don’t have any special events and we’re not exactly overwhelmed on lodging and night life,? said Lt. Dale LaBair of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Independence substation.
‘Maybe just a few more patrols for drunks, which wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for the Super Bowl. The ripple effects haven’t reached this far.?
LaBair did acknowlege some officers from the department will cover events in Pontiac, but that those services would not come at the expense of Independence Township.
Sergeant Mark Gardener of the Springfield Substation also said he did not know of anything different happening at his substation during the Super Bowl festivities.
