LO freshman baseball team finishes regular season 19-3

The Lake Orion freshman baseball team finished their 2005 season with a record of 19-3.
This was the most wins by a freshman baseball team in school history. The team was coached by Dave Whitaker and Greg Deeg.
Whitaker said he was very proud of this team’s ability to face adversity and find ways to win.
‘The team had 11 come from behind victories,? Whitaker said. ‘They’re all gamers and they responded to every situation. Every kid stepped up and made a big play during the season.?
Lake Orion swept their series against Clarkston, Rochester, Troy Athens, Dakota, Birmingham Groves, Waterford Kettering and West Bloomfield.
The Dragons won their only games against Rochester Adams, Waterford Mott, St. Mary’s, Stoney Creek and the Cranbrook JV.
The freshman Dragons were well-balanced and each player received significant playing time, Whitaker said.
‘The team had solid pitching, hitting and defense,? he said. ‘This group of kids will be fun to watch over the next three years.?
