LO Forensics program makes a strong showing at Mackinac Island tournament

Members from the Lake Orion High School Forensics team, Waldon Middle School and Oakview Middle School Forensics teams traveled to Mackinac Island last weekend to compete in a tournament at the Grand Hotel.
Freshman Mindy Stubbs won the informative speech category for the second year in a row, while teammate, junior Matt Hood, took third place. Their top finishes helped the Lake Orion Forensics team take home the team trophy for fourth place.
Lake Orion High School Forensics Coach Melissa Middleton was inducted into the Michigan Speech Coaches, Inc. Hall of Fame. Her name will be added to a plaque that hangs in the lower level of the Grand Hotel.
Waldon Middle School Forensics Coach Liza Sugar was also honored as she was awarded the Middle School Coach of the Year Award.
The team of Rebecca Ryan and Parisa Soraya, from Waldon Middle School, took first place in the duo sales category, while the team of Alex McClung and Lynsey Comeau, from Oakview Middle School, took seventh in duo sales.
Also from Oakview Middle School, Aubrey Leko took home third place for her dramatic interpretation piece.
