Lined and ready

Eight newly constructed tennis courts are now open just south of Brandon High School. The asphalt 450-by-132 court area, designed with a textured surface to add grip for players during competition, will increase the number of district courts to 16, enough to host regional and district high school competition.
Arden Becker, assistant project manager for SKANSKA USA, project engineers for Brandon High School building programs as part of the $73 million bond extension approved by voters in 2006, said the tennis courts are a great facility for the community.
‘The court area will also feature a building with restrooms, a storage area for nets, and water for drinking will be available,? he said. ‘The old high school courts will be resurfaced and all set for 100 percent community use.?
A bleacher area has also been added, which can seat about 100 spectators at matches.
