Lightning send 10 swimmers to state competition, most ever

New records continued for the Lake Orion Liquid Lightning last week as the team had 10 swimmers qualify and compete in individual events at the state level.
‘It’s very exciting to have the kids in individual events,? said Liquid Lightning interim head coach Susan Roesch, noting that this is the most individual qualifiers the competitive swim team has ever sent to states.
She credited the swimmers? hard work, as well as the groundwork laid by Coach Phil Hoffmyer, for the team’s success.
The team took 29th overall at the state meet, with several swimmers taking home state medals (first through eighth place) and ribbons (ninth through 16th).
The swimmers placed as followed:
Ashley Corriveau, 15, Metamora: 11th place, 50M freestyle; 12th place, 100M freestyle.
Kristen Finney, 12, Lake Orion: 31st place, 100M breaststroke; 32nd place, 200M breaststroke.
Drew Fritsch, 14, Lake Orion: 13th place, 1500M Freestyle; 18th place, 400M individual medley; 19th place, 800M freestyle; 24th place, 200M butterfly; 25th place, 400M freestyle; 27th place, 100M breaststroke.
Jacob Lindquist, 13, Oxford: 12th place, 100M backstroke, 19th place, 200M breaststroke; 21st place, 200M backstroke; 25th place, 100M breaststroke.
Courtney McClear, 11, Oxford: 34th place, 50M breaststroke.
Amy Norman, 14, Lake Orion: 31st place, 50M freestyle; 41st place, 200M freestyle.
Daniel Olthof, 10, Rochester: fourth place, 100M butterfly; seventh place, 50M breaststroke; eighth place, 100M breaststroke; 12th place, 200M individual medley; 15th place, 50M freestyle.
Kevin Reale, 10, Clarkston: 16th place, 50M breaststroke.
Petar Simic, 14, Oxford: 10th place, 200M breaststroke; 11th place, 100M breaststroke; 13th place, 50M freestyle; 19th place, 100M butterfly; 20th place, 200M individual medley; 22nd place, 200M butterfly.
Cheyne Stresky, 10, Oxford: 14th place, 50M freestyle, 21st place, 100 breaststroke; 22nd place, 200M freestyle; 24th place, 200M individual medley; 25th place, 100M backstroke.
