Buy a newspaper to help a child in need for Christmas.
The Old Newsboys of Flint will be selling newspapers from 7 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. Dec. 9 at the corner of M-15 and Hegel Road in Goodrich. The profits from the sale will benefit needy children in Genesee County this holiday season. Last year, the organization helped to give 56,653 children in the county presents.
‘It’s not fair that there are some children that will wake up Christmas morning and look and feel like they’re forgotten,? said Lynn Hoffman, co-chair of the Old Newsboys. ‘The more children you can help, that’s what you should be doing.?
This year each child will receive a box filled with a sweatsuit, a pair of socks, underclothes, a hat, a pair of gloves, dental hygiene items, and a new age-appropriate gift such as an American Girl doll or an iPad.
Hoffman is thankful not only for those who donate, but for those who help as well. ‘None of this would be possible without the team of workers that I have had working for me,? she said.
This is not the only event the Old Newsboys have to benefit needy children; they host a Valentine’s Day Gala and a golf outing in August.
‘The outpouring of support is just phenomenal,? Hoffman said.
The Old Newsboys will also be selling papers in several other locations throughout Genesee County.
