Beautiful gardens, crystal clear ponds and a good time.
That’s what garden lovers will find on the First Annual Leonard Garden Walk on Saturday, July 30, from 11a.m.-4 p.m.
The walk, hosted by the Leonard Summer Festival Committee, will feature seven lucious, perennial country gardens in Leonard Village.
Sandra Walendzik, a member of the committee, said the newly organized garden walk was started to help raise money for the annual Strawberry Festival in Leonard. She said she hopes this year won’t be the last.
‘We’re hoping to make it an annual event and switch off (gardens) to get other people to enter,? she said.
Walendzik said flowing fountains and fish ponds will be a special feature on the walk. Her own garden (pictured above), with an insect and marine theme, will also be viewed on the walk.
Tickets, which are $10, can be purchased at the Curves for Woman on 709 N. Rochester Rd., The Bear Paw Cafe 1363 Rochester Rd. and the Leonard Marathon gas station 4490 Forrest. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the walk at the starting home on 51 E. Elmwood across from the post office in Leonard.
Cookies and iced tea will be available at certain locations. For more information, please call Walendzik at (248) 628-0897.
