Despite a battle at the end, the Brandon Blackhawks swim team dropped their season opener versus Lapeer High School on Tuesday night, 94-92.
Second-year Blackhawks Coach Amy Zeno said the team is ready to build on the first meet of the year. ‘We lost plenty of good seniors last year,? said Zeno. ‘It’s going to be a rebuilding year. Still, we’re looking for seniors Shea Penney and Eryn Grupido to step up and lead the way. Last year, we were second in the Flint Metro League, only losing to Fenton’it’s tough to beat, but I’m confident.?
Elizabeth Kayfish, Andi Bishop, Penney and Tiffany Angell took first place in the 200-yard individual medley relay. KayAnn Gerber won the 1 meter diving and Penney finished first in the 500 yard freestyle.
The next meet will be at 6 p.m., Sept.16 at home versus Holly High School.
