Lake Orion village Manager Darwin McClary provided information for prospective candidates in the Nov. 5 general election during the village council meeting on June 24.
McClary said candidates must file non-partisan nominating petitions and affidavits of identity by 4 p.m. on July 23 at the Orion Township Clerk’s Office, 2323 Joslyn Rd.
Candidates who want to withdraw must notify the township clerk in writing no later than 4 p.m. on July 26.
The three council members who earn the most votes will hold office for four years, while the fourth highest will hold office for two years on the village council.
The remaining three council members will be up for election in two years. — J.G.
