A 6-2 loss to Farmington Hills Harrison on May 16 made the week bittersweet for the Lake Orion High School Varsity Baseball Team as they went 2-1 in play from May 12-16.
On May 13 the Dragons blew by Rochester Adams 11-2, with Jim Couretas as the winning pitcher for Lake Orion.
Couretas pitched five innings without allowing an earned run and hit one homerun for the team. Joel Coe went 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Mike Ripari went 2-for-4 and had two RBI for Lake Orion.
On May 14, Lake Orion took out Rochester, 7-3. Playing at Rochester, Dragons’ pitcher Josh Regits struck out six and allowed only two runs in seven innings. Brent Skiba went 2-for-2 for the team, with two RBI. Nate Recknagel hit a homerun for the Dragons, and added two RBI.
At home on May 16, Lake Orion had their first loss of the week to Harrison, with Harrison pitcher Andy Wingert striking out eight and scattering six hits and one earned run.
Lake Orion will wrap up their regular season schedule against West Bloomfield at home on May 21.
