Lake Orion Baptist season is rolling along

The Lions baseball team has been busy since spring break. The team swept Juniatta Christian in a double header on April 13. Connor Welby was 6-7, Evan Hojnacki went 4-7, and James Noruk, Jason Noruk, and Brad Watterworth each added three hits in the two games.
On April 15 the Lions played poorly, committing six errors and two mental mistakes to hand Warren Fitzgerald an easy 10-3 victory.
The Lions turned things around on April 16 as they ventured to Parkway Christian, the 2009 Division-4 state runners-up. The Lions fell behind 8-1, early. Then started chipping away at Parkway with five runs in the third inning. Parkway pushed it to 12-6 in the bottom of the third with no outs. A pitching change brought in Jason Noruk, who not only got out of that jam, but ended up pitching the rest of the game. Noruk allowed four hits and two walks while striking out seven in five innings of scoreless relief. The Lions scored three in the fourth, four in the fifth, and three in the seventh inning to cruise to a 16-12 win. Welby led with a 4-5 performance with five runs scored. Chris Hojnacki added a pair of hits while driving in four runs. Ben Case and James Noruk chipped in with two hits.
Things turned sour on April 20, as LOBS battled Life Summit Home School. Summit swept the twin bill by scores of 11-2 and 9-3. Brad Watterworth’s solo home run and Matt Cameron’s three hits were the lone bright spots for LOBS.
The week ended on April 23 with a double header split at Genesee Christian. Matt Cameron returned to his MVP pitching form as he stuck out twelve batters, and shut out the Soldiers 11-0 in five innings. Genesee only had two base runners, a hit by pitch and a double. Chris Hojnacki had three hits for the Lions.
The Lions fell in a see saw battle in the nightcap, 10-9. Chris Hojnacki was 2-2 with 2 walks and a R.B.I.
The Lions ended the week with 5-4 record, heading into the league season this week versus rival Bethnay Christian in Troy on April 27.
